About JCB

JCB’s journey began in 1945 when Joseph Cyril Bamford used surplus parts and scrap metal from World War II to build the first JCB all-steel tipping trailer, crafted from wheels and tires of a Grumman Hellcat fighter aircraft and hubs from a small howitzer. By 1949, JCB launched Europe’s first industrial front-end loader, followed by the world’s first backhoe loader in 1953. Bamford’s relentless drive to innovate led JCB to achieve significant milestones, including producing half a million machines by 2004, a feat accomplished in just 60 years. Within another nine years, JCB doubled that number.

In 2006, JCB set a world land speed record for a diesel-powered car with its JCB DIESELMAX, powered by two JCB 444 diesel engines producing 1,500hp, reaching a record speed of 350.092mph on the Bonneville Salt Flats in Utah.

Committed to sustainability, JCB introduced its first electric mini excavator in 2018, producing zero emissions. This was the beginning of a range of zero-emission products that continue to grow.

From zero-emission machines to hydrogen-fueled excavators and world record-breaking innovations, JCB has consistently demonstrated excellence and ingenuity. Today, JCB operates in 150 countries, with manufacturing facilities, sales offices, and service centers worldwide. The company is known for exceptional customer service, offering robust after-sales support, training programs, maintenance services, and spare parts.
