Betico Group, originally known as Grupo Betico, was founded by Miguel Carrera Munita in Eibar. Starting from a small workshop where he crafted mechanical saws and compressors, Miguel expanded his operations to meet growing demand, eventually producing the first Betico four-stroke diesel engine with proprietary technologies. His vision was to innovate engine manufacturing, initially focusing on small engines for machinery, generators, and equipment.

In the 1960s and 1970s, Betico Group shifted towards producing larger, more powerful engines, entering the marine and automotive markets. By the 1980s, the company was channeling substantial resources into Research and Development, leading to the creation of fuel-efficient, environmentally friendly engines with improved designs. The 1990s marked Betico’s global expansion, with the establishment of sales offices and factories in North America, Europe, and Asia.

To solidify its market position, Betico Group pursued strategic partnerships and collaborations with well-established brands, enhancing its technological capabilities and product offerings. Today, the company is at the forefront of developing sustainable technologies, focusing on hybrid and electric engines, as well as the digitalization of vehicles and the integration of smart technologies and IoT into their engines.
