About Shibaura

Shibaura, also known as IHI Shibaura Machine Corporation, is one of Japan’s leading manufacturers of small tractors and diesel engines. The company was established in 1950 following the merger of Toshiba and IHI, initially focusing on the production of light and heavy engines. Over time, Shibaura expanded its product portfolio, beginning the production of 2-wheel and 4-wheel tractors up to 40 hp in 1961, and later introducing a new series of tractors over 50 hp in 1978.

Although relatively young compared to some of its European counterparts, Shibaura has grown rapidly and earned a stellar reputation for the quality of its products. The company has gained global recognition for its machinery and engines, becoming a prominent name in the industry.

To better serve its international customers, Shibaura expanded its presence with the founding of Shibaura Europe B.V. in 1991, which collaborates closely with specialized dealers in Europe. In 2008, Shibaura further extended its reach by establishing Shibaura Deutschland GmbH, aimed at enhancing customer service in Germany.

In a noteworthy move, Shibaura signed a long-term supply agreement with Ford Tractors (now CNH Global) in 1972, and later entered into an agreement in 1990 to supply and design tractors for Yanmar. Additionally, Shibaura formed a joint venture with Perkins in China in 2008, resulting in Perkins Shibaura Engines.

Today, Shibaura’s product range includes CNC machines (Computer Numerical Control), machining centers, grinders, injection molding machines, diesel engines, and more, reflecting its commitment to innovation and high-quality manufacturing across various sectors.
